IREON – The International Relations and Area Studies Gateway

IREON is a gateway to scholarly literature on international relations, security and foreign policy issues. It is supported by a consortium of German and Scandinavian research libraries and documentation centers and funded by the German government. IREON permits cross-database searching in bibliographic databases and selected international treaties. In addition, users have access to the “European Thesaurus on International Relations and Area Studies,“ which is available in 8 languages. The cross-database search covers

  • the German database World Affairs Online
  • the US database PAIS International
  • CSA Worldwide Political Science Abstracts (WPSA)
  • a selection of international treaties on security issues

Searches and results lists are free. Where material is available on-line, users will have direct access (free or at cost), or else, in the case of licensed resources, be provided with information on their availability wherever possible. More information.
